In preparation for next Sunday's rollout of the new English translation of the Mass, Fr. John Baldovin, SJ, professor of historical and liturgical theology at Boston College's School of Theology and Ministry, offers this in-depth introduction to the changes in the Mass.  It's a longish presentation but well worth the time.

Thanks to Father Baldovan for his excellent explanation of the new English translation of the Mass.  A fundamental problem, however, is that with its introduction the Hierarchy ignores the spiritual needs of the Laity ... particularly our younger generation ... and in so doing repudiates the wonderful teachings of Vatican Council II.  The new translation quells spirituality for many of us in the pews ... making it harder to celebrate our lives in the Eucharist ... regressing backward instead of growing forward. And the change from 'ALL' to 'MANY' is so hurtful.  In light of Vatican II, this Hierarchical mandate, pre-Vatican II style, makes many of us very, very angry!
