In the winter edition of Notre Dame Magazine, Prof. Lawrence S. Cunningham, the John A. O'Brien Professor of Theology emeritus at Notre Dame, admits to holding "horrendously old-fashioned views" on what counts as a real bookstore, then edifyingly regales readers with an overview of why he eschews the e-reader. I found myself frequently nodding in agreement, even though I do read from time to time on my iPad.

One of my favorites? Reason number six: "a book never runs out of power, never requires an outlet or a cord."

Prof. Cunningham's is a great short essay with which to settle into the evening or begin the morning. Enjoy the entire piece!
